Translated as "Three Milks of Love" this luscious cake is drizzled with condensed milk, evaporated milk and whole milk, plus desired liqueur.

Ingredients

  • THE CAKE
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 5 eggs, room temperature
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • THE GOOD STUFF
  • 1 cup milk (preferably whole)
  • 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 12-ounce can evaporated milk
  • 1/3 cup or your favorite liqueur (Frangelico, Amaretto, Brandy, Kaluha or Irish Creme)
  • THE TOPPING
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cocoa powder, optional

Method

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan. Sift flour and baking powder together and set aside. Cream the butter and 1 cup sugar together until fluffy. Add the eggs and 1/2 teaspoon of the vanilla. Beat well. Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, about 2 tablespoons at a time, mixing well until blended. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 30 minutes. When cake has finished baking, pierce it in 8 or 10 places with a fork or skewer, and let it COOL COMPLETELY. Combine the whole milk, evaporated milk, condensed milk and liqueur and pour over the top of the cooled cake. Don't worry, it will soak in. This is the good part! Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. Just before serving, combine the whipping cream, the remaining 1 teaspoon of vanilla and 1 cup of sugar, whipping until thick and luscious. Spread over top of cake. Dust with cocoa powder, if desired.

Notes: Ooooohhhh, this dessert! The definition of LATIN LOVE! Its name means "Three Milks" and once you've tasted this cake, you will know that it does a body good. This is one rich cake- be careful how big you cut the pieces. Feel free to experiment with your favorite liqueur - it will lend a different subtle flavor to this wonderful cake. Because of the milk in the cake, it is very important that you keep the cake refrigerated until ready to serve. Serve chilled.

Number of Servings: 15-20
