Toasty Hazelnut Pie


A special treat--hazelnuts baked in a rich coffee flavored syrup and a flaky pastry shell.



Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup dark Karo syrup
  • 1/3 teaspoon salt
  • 4 Tablespoons melted butter
  • 3 eggs, unbeaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon instant coffee
  • 1 unbaked 9 inch pie shell
  • 1 cup hazelnuts, lightly toasted and chopped

Method

Combine syrup, sugar, salt, eggs, butter, vanilla and coffee. Mix well, add nuts. Pour into pie shell. Bake in a 350 degree F preheated oven for 50 minutes or until set.

Notes: Cool and serve with whipped cream.
