Sophisticated Strawberry S'mores

This easy dessert uses slices of pound cake, grilled, and topped with chocolate and marshmallows, then drizzled with strawberries and syrup.
 

Ingredients

  • 1 qt. strawberries, cleaned and quartered
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 baked pound cake, cut into 8 slices
  • 12 marshmallows or jar of marshmallow creme or fluff
  • 1 large chocolate bar, divided into chunks
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened

Method

Place strawberries in small bowl with sugar and combine until lightly coated. Refrigerate at least 2 hours so the juices are released and create a syrup, stiring occasionally. Preheat a grill to medium-low heat. Lightly butter one side of each slice of cake. Place cake slices on grill and toast until they have light grill marks. Place 3 pieces of chocolate on 4 of the slices of grilled pound cake. Top with 3 marshmallows or a scoop of marshmallow creme. Place other slices of pound cake on top. Let sit on grill until chocolate and marshmallow are warm and melted. Remove sandwiches from grill and top with strawberry mixture.

 

Notes: Strawberry mixture can be prepared up to a day ahead. This recipe works great on an outdoor grill, either charcoal or gas. This recipe was developed kind of by accident. This is an adult twist on S'mores; kids love it too.
