Quick Sundae Cake


Layers of sponge cake with strawberries and bananas plus chocolate and vanilla whipped topping.



Ingredients:

  • Prepackaged pound cake (I prefer cream filled snack cakes but any sponge or pound cake will work)
  • Vanilla whipped topping
  • Chocolate whipped topping
  • 2-3 medium sized bananas
  • 2 cups fresh or thawed frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup strawberry glaze
  • 1 cup roughly chopped nuts of your choosing (I prefer walnuts or peanuts)
  • Cherries, optional

Method

Combine strawberries and strawberry glaze in a bowl. Cut bananas into bite-sized pieces and add to strawberry glaze mixture. In a square glass baking dish, place a single layer of sponge or pound cake. Then top with (in order) a single layer of the vanilla whipped topping, and a layer of the strawberrry-banana glaze mixture. Next add another single layer of cake and top with chocolate whipped topping. Spoon on another layer of glaze mixture and top with the chopped nuts. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes to allow dessert to set.
