Punch Bowl Cake

This trifle dessert has layers of cake cubes, cooked pudding with cream cheese and pineapple, strawberries with syrup. and Cool Whip.
 

Ingredients

  • 2-layer yellow cake mix
  • 1 regular-size box instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 8-oz cream cheese, cut in cubes
  • Canned crushed pineapple, drained
  • Frozen strawberries in syrup, thawed
  • Cool Whip, thawed
 
Method

Prepare and bake cake as directed on package; set aside to cool. Cook pudding until thickened; add cream cheese and stir until melted. Stir in pineapple and set aside to cool. Cut cooled cake into cubes. In a clear punch bowl, place a layer of cake cubes; pour some of the pudding mixture over the cake. Add some strawberries and syrup, then spread with some Cool Whip. Keep adding layers until ingredients are gone, ending with a layer of Cool Whip on top. Chill overnight before serving.
