Peanut Butter Fudgy Brownies

A layer of brownies, a layer of peanut butter, and a layer of buttery chocolate. Now that is a brownie.
 

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg brownie mix
  • 2 tablespoons hot water
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 1 1/2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips (divided)
  • 2/3 cups peanut butter
  • 1 tablespoon shortening
  • 3 tablespoons butter

Method

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In a bowl, combine brownie mix, hot water, beaten eggs, and oil. Stir just until mixed then stir in 1/2 cup of chocolate chips. Grease a 9" square pan, pour in brownie mixture. Bake 45-50 minutes, making sure not to overbake. When cool, gently spread with peanut butter. In a small pan, melt butter and add 1 cup chocolate chips. Stir until well blended and chocolate is melted. Gently spread over peanut butter, let set, and cut into squares.
