Italian Satin Pie


This ultra-rich pie combines whipping cream, cream cheese, & Gianduia--an Italian chocolate-hazelnut spread, and is topped with a layer of chocolate.



Ingredients:

  • 1 9-inch graham cracker crust
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup gianduia (or other chocolate-hazelnut spread)
  • 4 ounces good quality chocolate, chopped
  • 1/4 cup hazelnuts, toasted and chopped
  • 1 cup whipped cream, for garnish

Method

Combine heavy cream, cream cheese and sugar in bowl of stand mixer. Whip to soft peaks. While whipping add 3/4 cup of the gianduia, 1 tablespoon at a time. Continue to whip to medium peaks. Spoon into pie shell. Chill. Melt chocolate in a double boiler or in a heavy saucepan over very low heat; stir in the remaining 1/4 cup gianduia. Pour chocolate mixture over pie and sprinkle hazelnuts over top. Cut into wedges to serve and garnish with whipped cream.
