Hard Sauce


This mixture of butter and powdered sugar is beaten until light and lightly flavored with vanilla and brandy.



Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup butter  
  • 1 cup confectioner sugar  
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla  
  • 1 teaspoon brandy

Method

Cream butter thoroughly. Beat in sugar gradually until as light as whipped cream. Beat in vanilla and brandy. Great on fruit cake, holiday plum pudding, or any steamed pudding. If sauce separates, add 1 teaspoon boiling water slowly, beating contantly.
