Halloween Candy Corn Blondies

Kids and grownups love these fun and tasty Halloween cake treats. The candy corn gives them a festive touch.
 

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups chocolate chips, divided
  • 2 cups roasted, and salted mixed nuts, coarsely chopped
  • 1 cup candy corn

Method

Preheat oven to 375 degrees and line a 9 X 9 inch baking pan with foil. Spray well with nonstick coating and set aside. In a medium bowl, whisk flour, baking soda and salt. In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, blend sugar and butter until light and creamy. Blend in egg and vanilla until smooth. Gradually blend in flour mixture and 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips and nuts. Transfer to prepared baking pan and bake 20-25 minutes or until golden and center springs back when lightly touched. Place on wire rack and top with remaining chocolate chips. Let stand 5 minutes then spread chips to make a smooth chocolate coating. Top with candy corn and cool completely before cutting into squares to serve.
