  • Cleanliness and Ingredients

Oh Sherry, I hope the little girl's parents saw her reusing cups and stopped her!  How awful.  Yuck!!

I think people are more aware of keeping things clean than they used to be.

  • Regular Cookies or Bar Cookies?

Sherry, that's a good point about food sitting in the sun.  I am a fanatic about food sitting out, even in the house.  I always wonder when we see canned drinks and bottles of water outside stores - is it safe to consume after sitting out in the heat?

  • Have you ever....

    Welcome MickiB!

I haven't done it either but I know of people who have.  One very strange experience - I made a cake for a bake sale and the next day, that cake was at an event we attended.  I overheard the woman who brought it telling someone how she had to rush to bake it but I knew it was the one I'd baked because of a funny spot on the side I'd tried to cover with frosting!

  • Fall Bake Sales

What are the most popular items in fall bake sales?

Do pumpkin items dominate the sales?

    Are pies big sellers?

  • Bake Sale Muffins

podec, I really don't follow an exact recipe.  I combine about 2 tbsp flour, 2 tbsp sugar and 1 tbsp butter.  Then mix it to a very, very fine crumb.  It is one of those eyeball recipes!  I sometimes add some finely chopped pecans or almonds and sometimes cinnamon.

  • Bake Sales by Season

I do- not only do I feel some treats are seasonal (pumpkin, apple, fruit) but also because you have to change your baking strategies when it is hot out- avoiding items that would melt or not hold up.  I don't think folks want a handful of melted chocolate when buying a treat! ;)
