Grilled Fruit with Ice Cream

This quick and easy dessert is nice to serve after a barbecued meal. Bananas and nectarines are sprinkled with cinnamon-sugar, grilled to heat through, and served with ice cream.

Ingredients:

  • 2 bananas (not too ripe)
  • 2 nectarines, sliced in half, pitted
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • Your favorite flavor ice cream

Method

Slice bananas, in their skin, in half lengthwise and crosswise so each banana yields four pieces. Set aside. Combine sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle cut sides of bananas and nectarines with cinnamon sugar. Let fruit sit for 5 minutes. Place fruit, cut side-down, in the center of a clean cooking grate and lower lid on grill. Cook for 2 minutes or until grill marks appear. Turn over and let cook 5 more minutes. Remove from grill and serve immediately with ice cream.

Notes: Grilled fruit is a nice surprise to end a meal on a hot summer night. Your guests will be amazed that you can actually grill fruit.

Number of servings: 4
