Grilled Pears, Provolone and Balsamic Vinegar

Serve as an appetizer or dessert--either way your guests will rave over these sweet-savory grilled pears.
 

Ingredients

  • 2 pears, cut in half
  • Olive oil
  • Sprinkle of salt and pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp provolone cheese
  • Aged balsamic vinegar, to taste

Method

Cut pears in half lengthwise and drizzle with olive oil. Season lightly with salt and pepper and place face down on very hot grill for five minutes. Turn skin side down and heat ten more minutes. Place on platter and sprinkle with provolone and drizzle with a good, aged balsamic vinegar.

 

Notes: This recipe is great for an appetizer or dessert. It can also be prepared in a very hot oven or indoor grill. The pears stay warm for a long time, and the flavors of the sharp cheese and balsamic blend perfectly with the pear.
