Flan Apple Pie

Sweetened condensed milk and heavy cream turn traditional apple pie into a smooth and creamy pastry delight.
 

Ingredients

  • 1 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/3-2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch salt
  • 8 medium apples
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • Premade pie crust

Method

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a blender, combine sweetened condensed milk, cream, milk, eggs and vanilla. Blend on high for one minute. Pour mixture into a large bowl. Peel and slice the apples. Mix sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon and salt into bowl with condensed milk mixture and stir in apples. Pour into pastry lined pie plate. Cover with top crust and seal edges. Cut slits in top of pie. Spread margarine lightly over top crust. Cover loosely with aluminum foil to prevent excess browning. Remove foil during last 15 minutes of baking. Bake 40-50 minutes or until crust is brown and filling has set.
