These crisp cone-shaped cookies can be filled with sweetened whipped cream and served as a sweet appetizer or dessert. Dip edges in melted chocolate and let set before filling for a fancier presentation.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 8 egg whites
  • Sweetened whipped cream

Method

Line cookie sheets with a silpat or coat with butter. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Stir flour and sugar into the melted butter. Cool and then add in the egg whites. Drop by teaspoons onto prepared cookie sheets and spread each into a thin circle. Bake about 3 minutes or until cookie is set. Lift off fast, fold in half, and roll into a cone. Let cool. Fill each with sweetened whipped cream.

Notes: This is an old recipe from my family that my great grandma used to make. A "Y2K twist" is to have these cutie cones edges dipped into chocolate and have the chocolate rolled into non-pariels or mini chocolate chips. I always serve these at holiday parties.
