Chocolate Applesauce Cake

An easy to make chocolate cake with applesauce that is topped with whipped topping.
 

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 c fat-free egg substitute
  • 3 tbsp. reduced-calorie margarine, melted
  • 1 1/3 cups unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 cup lite whipped topping

Method

1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Coat an 8-inch square baking pan with cooking spray. 2. Sift together flour, cocoa, baking sold and sugar. Beat together egg substitute, margarine and applesauce; blend into dry ingredients. 3. Spoon mixture into pan and smooth top. Bake until cake feels slightly firm in center, about 25 minutes. Cool completely before cutting into 8 pieces. Top each piece with 1 tablespoon of whipped topping.
