Cherry Pie Brownies

Butter, unsweetened chocolate, sugar, vanilla, eggs and flour are mixed together and baked. Cherry pie filling is added and baked on top.
Ingredients
- 1 large can cherry pie filling
- 1 stick butter (1/2 cup)
- 3 oz unsweetened chocolate
- 1 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs, slightly beaten
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

Grease and flour a 9" square or round baking pan; set aside. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt butter and chocolate, stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat and add sugar, mixing well. Add eggs and vanilla, mix well. Add flour; stir just until blended. Spread in prepared pan and bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and top with cherry pie filling. Place back in oven and bake 25-30 more minutes. (Watch edges to avoid burning.) Remove from oven and cool before cutting.
Notes: You can use an 8-inch pan and add about 10 minutes to final baking time, adding the pie filling after 15 minutes instead of only 10. You may use other fruit pie fillings too.
