This old-fashioned recipe uses an empty coffee can to steam the pudding. You can easily adjust the ingredients to suit your taste.
Grease and flour coffee can, mix all dry ingredients together in one bowl and set aside. Beat butter with white sugar, add vanilla and add to dry ingredients, stir till mixed and add blueberries.
Turn into greased coffee can and put can in large pot with water reaching 3rd way up can and cover can with foil & put cover on pot. You will have to check it occasionally to make sure it doesn't boil over and to add water.
Boil for 1 to 1.5 hours. Let cool and make sauce while cooling, Bring water, b sugar and vanilla to boil and adjust taste accordingly thicken with cornstarch and water mixed together till thickened. Serve with pudding and add whipped or ice cream as well.
Notes:
You might have to adjust taste according to how sweet you like it. There is no real recipe or maybe I should say there are many recipes in NFLD but I remember this one fondly and my family loves it as well.
