A combination of two favorite pies in one. This pie is perfect for the holiday season.
Apple filling:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, combine dry ingredients. Add vinegar and butter, and then mix thoroughly. Toss in apples and coat. Pour mixture into prepared pie crust.
Pecan filling:
Melt butter in microwave. In large bowl, mix together butter, corn syrup, brown sugar, salt, and vanilla. Combine until thoroughly mixed. Slowly add in eggs. Pour filling over apple filling. Top with pecan halves. Wrap foil around pie crust edges to prevent burning. Bake about 40 minutes. Remove foil and continue to cook for an additional 20-25 minutes.
