Apple Dapple Cake

A baked apple cake covered with a light caramel sauce. This fruit dessert recipe originates from Germany.
 

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Sugar
  • 1 1/4 Cups Vegetable Oil
  • 4 Eggs
  • 3 Cups self-rising Flour
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 Cup Chopped Pecans
  • 3 Cups Raw Apples, Chopped
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Cinnamon
  • Sauce:
  • 1 Cup light Brown Sugar
  • 1/4 Cup Milk
  • 1 Stick Margarine
  • Dash of Cinnamon

Method

Beat sugar, oil and eggs well. Add flour gradually, beating well. Add vanilla, nuts, apples, cinnamon, mixing ingredients well. Pour into greased and floured tube cake pan. Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes at 325 degrees. Let cool about 30 minutes, and then turn onto cake plate. Sauce: Mix all ingredients in a double boiler, and bring to a boil. Pour over warm cake.
