Easy to make, it can be mixed up with any flavor and color, and tastes incredibly good!

  • Servings: About 1 pound
  • Prep Time: 5 min
  • Cook Time: 20-30 min
  • Total Time: @ 1/2 hour

Ingredients:

Butter, to grease the inside of baking dish
¾ cup Water
⅔ cup Light Corn Syrup
2 cup Sugar
1 tsp Anise Extract
Red Food Coloring
2– 3 tsp Confectioners Sugar

Directions:

Butter and 8 inch baking pan, and set aside. In a large and heavy saucepan, combine the water, corn syrup and sugar. Bring to a boil over med. heat, stirring occasionally. Cover and cook for 3 minutes to dissolve any sugar crystals. Uncover and cook over med-high heat, without stirring, until a candy thermometer reads 300 degrees (hard crack stage). Remove from heat and add coloring and extract, and then pour into prepared pan. Using a sharp knife, score into 3/4" squares, and cool. Separate into squares, and roll in confectioners sugar, brushing off excess with pastry brush. Store at room temp in airtight container.
